LeatherWalk takes place on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20th, 2015. On-site registration and check in begins at 10:00am at 440 Castro. Please check in at the bar to get your collectible LeatherWalk pin. Entertainment starts at 11:30am at Jane Warner Plaza. The walk itself plans to start moving at 12:15pm from the plaza. This year, the walk features Sister Roma as our Mistress of Ceremonies with flatbed truck performances by Grace Towers, Roxy-Cotten Candy, Raquela Singer and Mark Paladini, and many more!
Folsom Street Events presents LeatherWalk as the official kick-off for San Francisco's Leather Week which culminates one week later at the Folsom Street Fair. We walk together to celebrate leather, kink, family and community — all while raising funds for three great agencies. Each year, hundreds of LeatherWalkers take over Market Street and march from the Castro to SoMa. Our route includes stops at some of San Francisco's favorite watering holes including Powerhouse (with performances by the Growles Family and John Weber), Oasis (with performance by Kylie Minono and Tamale Ringwald) and BeatBox (with performances by Brian Kent and a demo by Ms. SF Leather 2015), and ends with raising of the Leather Pride Flag at the SF Eagle. Each venue will showcase some amazing entertainment.
LeatherWalk was founded in 1992 by Art Tomaszewski, former AEF Board President, Bare Chest Calendar Man and former Mr. Headquarters Leather. Art was inspired to start an event that would raise visibility, comradery and funds for AEF.
In 2001, Sandy 'Mama' Reinhardt, a tireless community fundraiser and founding advisor at BCEF, took over event production of LeatherWalk. Each year, Mama and Mama's Family hold LeatherWalk fundraisers across the country. Today, LeatherWalk raises vital funds for Folsom Street Events, AIDS Emergency Fund, and Breast Cancer Emergency Fund.
In 2015, Folsom Street Events entered into an agreement with AEF and BCEF to take over the production of LeatherWalk. In this new agreement Folsom Street Events will retain 75% of the proceeds and 25% being split amongst AEF and BCEF. Folsom Street Events is a charitable nonprofit that donates its net proceeds to selected beneficiaries (http://www.folsomstreetevents.org/beneficiaries/). Folsom Street Events is very much looking forward to working with the community and putting the signature Folsom brand on the event. FSE encourages all bar and club owners, businesses, and community members to organize teams and walk to show our collective pride. LeatherWalk raises awareness, visibility and fosters a sense of community.
Thank You, Rich Stadtmiller, for chronicling the leather community for so many years! www.richtrove.com
