Today, a person living with HIV who is receiving effective treatment cannot transmit the virus to sexual partners and can live a long healthy life. Today, a person with a negative HIV status can prevent HIV transmission with a daily pill. Still, 973 Ohioans were newly diagnosed with HIV in 2019, in addition to the 23,585 persons already living with diagnosed HIV in Ohio.
We want to be part of the era that stops HIV once and for all. That’s why we have accepted the challenge to participate in AIDS Walk Ohio 2023. Join us by making a tax-deductible contribution in support of our AIDS Walk Ohio fundraising goal.
Together our contributions will support Equitas Health’s critical medical, dental, counseling, case management, and support services to those living with HIV, and through public awareness, testing, and treatment render the virus untransmittable across our state.
Here’s why your donation—whatever amount you can give—matters:
- Nearly 1 in 4 Ohioans don’t know their HIV status. Routine, stigma-free testing is the first step to halting further transmissions.
- Transitioning from testing to treatment is critical to stopping the virus. Equitas Health testing counselors and linkage to care coordinators are specially trained to guide people from diagnosis to regular treatment.
- Treatment is prevention! Nearly 90% of people living with HIV who receive treatment or case management services at Equitas Health have achieved viral suppression and cannot transmit the virus to sexual partners.
- Affirming care is at the heart of healing. Equitas Health medical, dental, counseling, and support services are specially designed to serve the needs of people living with HIV and the LGBTQ+ community.
- We deserve access to and awareness of ALL methods of prevention. Equitas Health’s prevention team is working in communities across Ohio to connect people to PrEP treatment and programs that pay for it.
