Frank Callea and Amy's purple hearts

Let's do more in honor of FTD awareness week! I was granted an official proclamation by the Chicago Mayor. Did you know Frank was diagnosed at 54 and I was 53. Help us raise money for The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration and families! A CURE!

Welcome to our team page!

Welcome to our team page!

How could a kind healthy athletic husband be diagnosed with a terminal disease that hardly anyone is aware of?

You may know a bit due to Bruce Willis being diagnosed.

NO CURE YET, NO TREATMENT YET., and its time. Lets combine our efforts TOGETHER and move this needle.

I am his wife, Amy Bouschart  and I am the one to continue to tell his story! Frank Callea one of the kindest men, dedicated, funny, 26 year executive at the Chicago Tribune and long time volunteer along with his wife Amy at Northwestern Hospital.

Frank started to say to Amy, "something is wrong with my head". We started the long process to diagnosis of FTD , his variant under this FTD dementia umbrella was PPA/Primary Progressive Aphasia. The earliest symptoms, word finding became difficult. Unfortunately we dealt with new symptoms that were increasingly hard to manage.  His brain was being destroyed.

Imagine your spouse or loved one at 54 diagnosed with a hard to diagnose dementia!

This is a progressive disease with a need for treatments, and a cure! FTD costs people twice as much as Alzheimer's. We need research. Families can't afford the immense care needed and Frank was rejected 3 times by memory care due to being under 62.  Awareness is indeed needed and I thank you for increasing your awareness.

We need you to join forces to donate, to help the families impacted with this devasting disease, FTD/Frontotemporal Degeneration that takes from the person diagnosed as well as  those who are closest.

I reached out to politicians and was granted a proclamation by the Mayor of Chicago in honor of FTD awareness week Sept 21-29, 2024
