About the Campaign
ILLUMINATING THE PATHWAY TO MENTAL HEALTH RECOVERY
Nearly one in five Americans suffer with mental illness each year. Our mission is to encourage the acceptance of mental disease as readily as physical disease and to eradicate the stigmas associated with diagnosis and behaviors resulting from mental illness.
On September 13th, the 2nd Annual Zia Larson's Ray of Light Foundation Walk/Run will celebrate Zia's Birthday!

Proceeds help Zia Larson's Ray of Light Foundation fight the devastating effects of mental illness. We support programs such as the University of Washington's Accelerate Mental Health Care Early Psychosis Intervention Program and research and education for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Enter at the 65th Street entrance. The starting line is located by the dedicated Zia Larson Park Bench located along the water in the northeastern corner of the park. To get there, walk north along the easternmost paved path from the parking lot. Just before coming to an abandoned structure with a loading dock on the left, there is a cluster of three benches on the right. From the group of three, there is a small path that leads to the water. Follow that footpath and you will see Zia's bench on the left in a small meadow close to where the path meets the water.
GATHERING OF LIGHT RECEPTION
Join us in the evening, September 13th at 7:00 PM for the FREE Gathering of Light Reception.
RSVP is required.
The Gathering of Light Reception will be held at the Northwest African American Museum. This FREE event will help promote awareness of Zia Larson's Ray of Light Foundation with a community conversation around mental health issues. The reception will feature light bites and a panel discussion on removing stigma, the need for education and research, and the importance of funding from community, institutions, and government sources.
