Supporting Community Vitality Despite Desperate Times
Supporting Community Vitality Despite Desperate Times
Just over 20 years ago (in fall 2003) I stumbled into Lajee Center in Aida Refugee Camp for what I thought was a one-day commitment :) . Since then, I've watched a generation of youth grow up with the wisdom and talents they have cultivated in Lajee Center -- and I've watched 1for3's work bring new perspectives and possibilities to Lajee Center and other organizations in the West Bank: a beautiful, child-centered preschool, environmental education, thriving hydroponic gardens, a community health program that addresses chronic health challenges and brings new vibrancy to people's lives.
Truly, 1for3's work addresses the health and vitality of all generations in the communities where they work. Moreover, at a time when the economy is at a standstill due to the Palestinian Authority's non-paying of salaries, the loss of jobs inside Israel, and the lack of tourism, 1for3 provides meaningful and stable work for over two dozen people.
I see in these programs models for cultivating community vitality and creativity and treating people with dignity. I hope you will help to support this work in this especially difficult time.
