Dreamforce 2014 is coming up, and this year’s event is going to be bigger and better than ever. If you’re not familiar with Dreamforce, it’s the largest technology conference in the world, hosted by Salesforce.com. It attracts over 135,000 people from around the globe to Salesforce.com’s home base in San Francisco, for a week-long festival of technology, innovation, and philanthropy.
Giving back has always been a dominant theme of the conference, but the Dreamforce team is kicking things up a notch this year with four days of giving back. Under the umbrella of #DFGives, there will be a myriad of daily events focused on supporting hunger-related causes, childhood education and development, veterans services, and helping businesses integrate philanthropy into their cultures and policies.
There’s even a concert featuring performances from Bruno Mars, Cake and an after party with will.i.am, and MC Hammer (can’t touch this) with the goal of raising $8,000,000 to support UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.
Incorporating giving back with business is central to Salesforce’s 1-1-1 model for integrated philanthropy, and it’s at the heart of everything we do here at Classy. In fact, if you’re familiar with our founding story, you know it was the inspiration for starting our company in the first place. We’re thrilled to be working with Salesforce.com to support the #DFGives One Million Meals food drive.
The Quest for 1,000,000 Meals
What is #DFGives One Million Meals exactly? It’s a first-of-its-kind initiative that brings together the entire Dreamforce community in a unified effort to generate enormous impact, and it’s powered by the Salesforce Foundation and Classy. It’s a massive undertaking, but the goal is simple: to utilize a combination of online fundraising, canned food donations, and real-world events to raise at least 1,000,000 healthy, nutritious meals for families struggling with chronic hunger.
The campaign features the best of what Classy is known for: online donations, peer-to-peer fundraising, and robust supporter engagement strategies. Perhaps best of all (or maybe it’s just me), the campaign benefits 12 national and international nonprofit organizations including Feeding America, Action Against Hunger, and the World Food Program USA.
Supporters can donate online from anywhere in the world and create their own personal fundraising campaigns for the beneficiary of their choice. To top it off, if you’re coming to Dreamforce, you can bring some canned food along to contribute directly.
This is just the beginning…
There’s a ton happening here at Classy (as you might have noticed), and many more great things to come. I hope you can join us by participating in the #DFGives One Million Meals Campaign, or take advantage of one of the many opportunities to connect with us in person at Dreamforce this year.
It’s been an incredible honor to collaborate with the Salesforce foundation on #DFGives. With this initiative, the support of Salesforce Ventures, and a growing community of Classy clients and partners, the opportunities for all of us truly are endless. It’s a pretty exciting time to be a part of the Classy Community, and we’re happy you’re a part of it too!Be a part of #DFGives
